Much more like it from 2000 Guineas flop Lateen Sails who, stepping up in distance, knuckled down in pleasing style in the final couple of furlongs to keep the runner-up at bay and win going away. In a race run at a fairly even gallop - and in a time slightly slower than the Dante - he saw this trip out well enough to suggest he had every chance of getting a mile-and-a-half. His slightly ungainly action, however, might not be ideal for Epsom and connections seem to be swaying more towards the French Derby. |
