 A more competitive handicap than the money might suggest, with most of the field in decent heart. They did not go a great pace.
Goodbye Mr Bond pulled well clear in the closing stages to defy a 6lb penalty in emphatic style. He is better than ever at the age of four and there is probably more improvement to come as his jockey did not have to get to the bottom of him. He looks ripe for a step up in class and he ought to give a good account if he gets into the handicap for the Carlisle Bell next Wednesday.
