ANALYSIS: A low-grade handicap, contested by a large field, saw MAMORE GAP come out on top on his favourite fast ground. Fit from hurdling, he has slipped to a good mark from his days with Richard Hannon. Whether he can build on this success is anyone's guess. Parisian Playboy, a course-and-distance winner last summer, ran well in second on ground probabably faster than ideal for him. Pepper Road, with conditions in his favour, ran well, though it may be he is even more effective on a turning track. Yorkshire Blue ran a fair race under top weight, but leaves the impression he is better over seven furlongs. Bijou Dan, always chasing the leaders, was driven along a fair way from home and could never make a telling blow. As for Sun Of Thunder, he was driven along and going nowhere fully three furlongs out. Both his wins have come at Musselburgh and he may require a return to that track, or at least a turning course, to bring out the best in him. |
