ANALYSIS: A valuable prize on offer for this competitive 0-80 handicap.

A dream run for HARTSHEAD, who came from last to first up the inside rail to win in style. His four wins last year came at up to 7f but he had no trouble staying this extra distance, especially on his favourite fast ground.

Goodbye Mr Bond, winner of this race last year, ran really well in defeat off an 11lb higher mark, while African Sahara, with cheekpieces on for the first time, produced a solid effort from a far from favourable draw.

Hills Of Gold kept on well under pressure to nick fourth, but was never quite finding enough in time. In a blanket finish, Nevada Desert, who was drawn wide, was another to run with credit, along with the 2003 winner of this race Top Dirham, another drawn low, who had to be pulled to the outside and who kept on, though not quickly enough to reel in the leaders.

The next five horses home were beaten only heads and necks, a group which included Mystic Man, who only gave best inside the last.
