This produced a rapidly changing picture in the final furlong as the frontrunners emptied and maiden PATAVIUM PRINCE went from toiling under pressure to ready winner as he stayed on when switched left widest out, mowing them down. He is due to go down 3lb in future and he has notlooked to stay 7f when tried before, which limits his opportunities as a fast-run six looks needed. Arculinge ran a more conventional race, winding up into the last two furlongs to come through strongly to beat the rest well enough without looking like repelling the winner's burst. She again hinted at an upcoming success. Catherines Cafe chased the pace against the inside rail and plugged on for third but looks to need further help from the handicapper. Those who covered the strong pace and paid the price included George The Second and that, as much as his 6lb winner's penalty, sunk his chances. Hang Loose was eased in the final furlong, with his jockey reporting his saddle had slipped. |
