ANALYSIS: BLUE MOON HITMAN has never been an easy horse to catch right, and he looked to have a stiff task here against the likes of Undeterred, who is rated 30lb superior to him on official figures and was giving him just 3lb.

A high draw made things even more difficult for him, but he broke well and had the pace to quickly get himself to the head of affairs. He battled on well in the straight to repel allcomers and gain a win which seems sure to earn him in jump in the ratings, even though he looks well-exposed after 39 races.

Byo, second in a banded race at Southwell last week, was another to excel as he finished ahead of the top-rated Undeterred and several other higher-rated rivals.

Undeterred was having his first run for new connections after being sold cheaply out of David Barron’s yard last August and was also making his all-weather debut at the age of 10. He did not have the early pace to take advantage of his low draw and had to be shuffled back before halfway before running on well enough for pressure in the straight.

*James Doyle reported that Chantelles Dream had hung right.
