RACE REPORT

A race that has been dominated by British-trained runners, and YOMALO provided the raiders with their seventh win in the last eight years.
The six-year-old held the third-lowest rating in the race and was looking for her first win for just over a year, but she came here on the back of quite an encouraging run in a 5f Listed race at Bath last month, in which she finished well to take sixth behind Indian Maiden.
Yomalo initially raced in third and was one of the first to come under pressure, but she responded to her rider's urgings to go in pursuit of the front two with over a furlong to run. She still had plenty to do at this point, but ran on well to grab the lead in the final 50 yards.
Rae Guest reported that his charge relishes a sound surface and felt she was well suited by the stiff finish here. The Wokingham Handicap is now a possibility for the winner.
Noelani ran her best race since winning a Group 3 at The Curragh last August. After setting off in front and dictating a steady pace, she lost the lead with 1f to run but battled back to regain the initiative before the winner arrived on the scene. This was encouraging, and she can be placed to further advantage at stakes level.
Mecca's Mate came here off a fine third in the Temple Stakes. She was going well early in the straight and had a brief spell in the lead in the closing stages, before eventually having to settle for third. She may prefer easier ground and can certainly add to her Listed race haul in the coming months.
Miss Sally was found to be in season when third to Moss Vale in the Greenlands Stakes last time. She couldn't quite match the leaders when they quickened up in the straight but was staying on towards the finish. She seems equally effective over 6f and 7f but may just be better suited by an easier surface.
Modeeroch, who was blinkered for the first time, did not enjoy the clearest of runs in the straight and was staying on quite well late on to finish a close fifth.
Placed in a 7f Group3 here on her return to action last month, she will be worth another try at this trip.
