A competitive handicap and GLENCAIRN STAR, having got cover from his low draw, quickened up in good style to win decisively. This seems to be his trip. It could be argued that the form has to be treated with a bit of caution as seven of those finishing close up had not been showing much, but they have been capable of better form and Whinhill House put up his best performance for some time. Ptarmigan Ridge ran his best race of the term too, and there was merit in his effort as his best form have been on ground less fast than this. Colonel Cotton had the worst of the draw and it is a long time since he has won a race but he left room for encouragement here. Hedid not have the best of runs but ran on well when getting daylight and well handicapped now, there is surely a race like this at least in him. Angelofthenorth ran better than of late and that despite being 4lb out of the handicap. Strictly in theory, he might have won off his proper mark. Jun Fan ran well in a seller last time and a race of that quality at least ought to come his way on the evidence of another good run. He was 5lb out of the handicap and off his proper mark he might have pinched it. Raccoon, winner of a decent handicap here two years ago, had every chance and he should still be capable of winning in this sort of company. Coconut Moon's only win to date was on the AW at Wolverhampton, and from 5lb out of the handicap here she has done enough here to suggest she could be interesting back on the sand. *Tony Culhane reported that Malapropism was denied a clear run. *Andrew Mullen reported that Catch The Cat finished lame. |
