ANALYSIS: A belated first victory for KEMPSEY, who, according to his connections, has taken a while to get over a gelding operation. With his liking for cut in the ground and a plum draw on the fence, he had much more going for him than his 20-1 starting pricesuggested. His stable has now hit a rich vein of form and, from his current mark on similar ground, he can win again.

Revien proved with this run that he goes in the ground. When it became evident that his group on the far side were behind he made a move towards the rail and stayed on well. He needs everything to fall into place, but this was his best run on turf this year.

Cosmic Destiny showed abundant speed on the far side, but her draw proved too big a handicap.

Starduster fell away tamely after showing good early pace.
