TOTE WIN £7.40 PL £1.90, £1.30, £6.80, £1.90; Ex £153.40; CSF £51.61; TRICAST £705.79 ANALYSIS: A third win for HOMEGROWN who was carrying a mandatory 5lb penalty for her victory over seven furlongs at Roscommon on Tuesday. The drop back in trip proved no problem for this versatile filly, who won over one mile last year, and she showed plenty of dash, disputing the lead before going on from half-way. She battled well when challenged and was holding the runner-up near the finish. According to owner-trainer Patrick Tallis, the winner is likely to run at the Galway Festival where she has a choice of races over seven furlongs. Millers Weir, whose two wins last season included one over this course and trip, had signalled his return to form when third at Bellewstown on his previous start and followed up with another solid effort here. He had every chance from 2f out and was the only danger to the winner inside the final furlong. Paris Sue, a winner over the distance last year, produced her best run of the season so far. Soon in the firing line, she had every chance before finding no extra through the final furlong. Petite Bois was tracking the leaders 2f out and kept on without posing a serious threat. She seems to be holding her form quite well and should be up to ordinary success, possibly over six furlongs. Renegade, who had finished in front of Millers Weir and Petite Bois when second over the trip at Bellewstown, had every chance but could make little impression in the final furlong. Ridyan is getting on in years, but retains ability and this six time winner was noted running on quite well in the closing stages. Harmani, on a hat-trick and 14lb higher than when successful over the trip at Down Royal last month, ran fast and disputed the lead to beyond half-way |
