ANALYSIS: The field raced towards the stands' side and it paid to be up with the pace on ground that was changed to heavy afterwards. Toughness was necessary in the conditions and they don't come more battle-hardened than MY PARIS, who won off a career-high mark, chasing the leader and staying on in determined fashion to get up close home. He heads for the Cambridgeshire, for which he was cut to 20-1 (from 33-1) with Totesport, and looks sure to give a good account, granted a favourable draw.
Royal Island had returned to winning form on fast ground at Haydock last time but had scored twice previously on heavy ground and relished underfoot conditions as he put in another sound effort. He was just behind the leading pair and kept on strongly when switched towards the centre in the final two furlongs. He gave the impression that the nine furlongs of the Cambridgeshire will suit, but his trainer has plenty of other interest in the race.
Sabbeeh broke well and was soon bowling along in the lead on the stands' rails. It took the first two a long time to wear him down and he deserves to win a race of this nature.
Cimyla was the eyecatcher of the race, as he had the worst of the draw from stall one and was having his first outing since April. He had been gelded since then and had run well before when fresh. Tacked over to race in mid-division, he was travelling nicely three furlongs out and finished quite well. He looks sure to come on for the outing and could be fancied to finish in front of those who beat him here if they reoppose on similar terms.
Polar Magic was another coming back from a break and ran well enough. He was stepping up in trip and raced just a few lengths off the pace but didn't find any extra inside the final furlong. He should improve for the outing and, although he probably did stay, he gave the impression that seven furlongs is his best trip.
Kamanda Laugh chased the winner but could make no impression in the closing stages, while heavy-ground lover St Andrews looks too high in the weights in this grade and is better off in minor conditions events.
