The winner was subject to a friendly claim. Looking North was claimed by Mr E. Grayson for £8,000. Enchanting Times was claimed by Mr N. Littmoden for £5,000.

ANALYSIS: Even softer ground than on the previous day after a further 9mm of rain overnight, and this five furlongs was quite a stamina test for two-year-olds.

Only three of those to have raced had shown the form required to win even in poor company and they were soon clear in this claimer, with ONE TRICK PONY making just about all to prevail narrowly, despite tending to edge left late on - a forgivable lapse in these conditions. He had cheekpieces on for the first time here but his previous form gave him every chance at the weights and he probably did not need to improve too much to land a modest contest.

Looking North had hung left when second at Southwell last week and again went left in the latter stages here but progressed further, being the only one to make a race of it with the winner in the final furlong, and probably has a bad race in her.

The first two came clear of Enchanting Times, who was slowly away on her debut but kept on in the latter part of the race and should improve, as should fellow newcomer Play Coy, who was also keeping on.

Blue Minx had shown plenty of speed in winning two sellers on better ground and got stuck in the mud after racing prominently for a long way here - she will be suited by a return to less testing conditions.

Fitasabuckstoat was well backed but was soon outpaced.
