ANALYSIS: Again, not the strongest of gallops and the field raced far side. SIERRA VISTA gained the first win since her juvenile days when taking this race last season, but she hadn't won since. However, from a pound out of the handicap, she crossed over from a high draw, made all and kept on well. It's hard to know what to make of her.

Ellens Academy, second in this race last year, ran on strongly from well off the pace. Though he ran well, he is on a long losing run, with his last success coming back in 2003.

Rising Shadow wasn't disgraced but didn't pick up as he can in the last furlong and the suspicion is that the handicapper has his measure, having put him up 8lb for his win here this month.

Mecca's Mate ran another sound race but having gone up more than two stone this season, she is going to find life tough. Fantasy Believer ran creditably, though he never looked like winning, while Tom Tun needs more give in the ground. Wyatt Earp wasn't ideally drawn, but then neither was the winner, so this was a shade disappointing after his Redcar win last time. Connect, Spirit Of France and Onlytime Will Tell were very disappointing.
