TOTE WIN £18.00 PL £3.70, £2.50, £1.70; Ex £134.80; CSF £153.84 There was no bid for the winner. Byo was claimed by Paul Howling for £6,000. Stagnite was claimed by D. J. Flood for £6,000. ANALYSIS: Just an ordinary seller but very competitive and, like the first race, it proved hard to make up ground from off the pace. That suited FEMINIST, who was ridden very positively from the start and kept on gamely in the straight to follow up her recent course-and-distance banded success. She is in the form of her life, but two straight wins for a horse of her ability is a touch flattering and she appeals as one to take on next time. He's A Rocket has been inconsistent since returning to turf this year, but ran well back on a surface that suits him well and was just held. Byo was one of the best off at the weights on this drop in grade, but could not take advantage despite being well placed throughout. Dollivius had not shown a great since coming over from Ireland, but had an obvious chance at the weights on this drop in grade and, always well placed given the bias, ran better than of late. Paddywack ran an extraordinary race as he was last early and could not go with the rest of the field, but he picked up well in the second half of the race and posted a huge effort against the bias. He has won in either June or July, or both, for the past three seasons, and looks well up to continuing that sequence this year. Stagnite, although successful at Brighton on his previous start, is very hard to win with and could not follow up. Kallista's Pride had been in good form at a similar level on turf recently, but has never won on sand and was never competitive in a race dominated by the prominent racers.[RW] |
