ANALYSIS: A meeting, which survived only after two course inspections, produced very testing ground and hordes of non-runners throughout the afternoon.

DENNIS THE MENNIS, dropping back in trip, set out to make all and stuck to his task in game style under pressure from the final flight. He seems to enjoy the mud, which was a big plus here.

Frankincense, proven on this surface and a course-and-distance winner, had every chance, but could never quite reel in the winner.
