Mecca's Mate is another consistent sort. Her rider's saddle slipped inside the final furlong, but he was still able to ride a finish and she ran right to the line. Her turn will come again in this sort of company. Baron Rhodes improved on his debut run, and he did enough to suggest that he will be interesting over a stiff 5f on fast ground. Bonne Fleur showed pace, then edged left at halfway, but once on an even keel again, ran on well in the last furlong and a half. Smiddy Hill was far from disgraced on her first outing since mid-October. Her two wins have been over 5f on goodto firm. Musical Fair did her cause no good by hanging left when making his effort inside the final 2f. She does not have a great record running when fresh, and will prove better than this. |
