ANALYSIS: ust an ordinary gallop to this mile handicap in which the first two pulled clear inside the last furlong.

BALLAST, having only his second run in this country having been with Maurice Zilber in France, joined issue with the second over a furlong from home, and showed plenty of guts to get up in the last stride. He won this off a mark of 92, but this was only his 11th race, so he may improve a little more.

My Paris progressed well last season, and ran a sound race last time at Newmarket. He had the run of the race this time, but ran on well in the straight and was caught only in the final stride. However, he was 4l clear of the rest and should be winning soon.

Appalachian Trail ran another sound race, though having got to the leaders afurlong out, it was slightly disappointing the way he faded in the last 100 yards.

Flighty Fellow ran a sound first race of the season, and Selective did well after being hampered, for he ran without getting right into contention, and as he ison a good mark now, he can be placed to advantage in a decent 1m or 7f handicap before long. Audience didn't fare badly considering he hung markedly right in the straight and ended up towards the stand side rails.
